Finishing stand after tank set up.

Anybody finish up their stand after they set up their tank? I need the space in my garage so I have to pull out the tank and stand. So I figure just set up the tank and try to finish up the stand afterwards. I only need to skin it, doors, moldings, and paint. I just want to know if it was a mistake doing it that way is it more difficult. Any info is helpful. Thank you.

What kind of stand? What sort of material? I think I would have had a difficult time installing the doors on my 8020 stand if the tank and top were already in place.
