Bought a finnex 200w HMS titanium heater with controller on 4/5 from BRS. Last night it decided to go from the 78 it was set on to 92.4 killing my flame hawkfish and skunk cleaner shrimp. My corals and anemones have all pulled in except for 1 favia. Hoping the rest pull though but I’d be surprised if my blasto and hammer come back. The rest of the fish and inverts appear ok. I know heaters are the most likely point of failure and have always changed mine after about a year when I did freshwater. In this case it was the first thing I upgraded after buying a used tank. Lasting almost a month is ridiculous.

Yep that is ridiculous, heaters are just unreliable. Do you have the BRS heater controller or the finnex one?

buying an inkbird heater controller from amazon and using it to control the finnex heater would work for cheap though
I’ve already been looking at heater controllers though I won’t use the finnex again.

I lost everything this week due to that same heater. I work up to a horrible smell ans my temp was 98.9. Lost $3K in one night due to the same heater. Mine was set in 78.

Yikes. I think I'll be using Eheim Jager's until the end of time it seems.

jager is number 1 have had 1 for 5 years now...prob should retire that
