Hi,
I have 2 - 3oo watt finnex heaters and was wondering if it would be ok to slide them into a 1'' PVC tube to protect them from touching other things in the sump.
I don't have the protective guards for them.

Also I don't have a controller for them, I was gonna use the Apex to control the temps....is that cool to do?

You would either need to machine multiple slots into the PVC or drill a lot of holes in it. You need to make sure it has plenty of flow through the openings in the PVC or the heater will get too hot.

An Apex does a great job controlling temperature so I think that is a great idea.

The rubber bumper on the end mostly prevents that. I don't use the protective sleeve on any of mine.

Cool....I may just lay them in the sump.
It is like an inch away from my skimmer bottom...it that ok?

As long as everything stay submerged the heaters wont damage anything. Mine rest against my skimmer every time the suction cup holders release. You should be able to comfortably grab your heater when it is on. It will only feel a little warmer than the water itself.
