Hi,

I cannot tell you exactly what that is. My guess would be is excess squeeze out from the sealant around the cord into the heater that was not cleaned off fully. Can you clean it off easily?

Best thing to do if you are worried is contact the manufacturer, or just call the vendor to see if you can exchange it or confirm what it is. I don’t think it is anything major, but can’t hurt to check.

yup never touched water brand new
Looks like some residual glue or something. Doesn’t appear that it exposed wires or the cord is damaged. I’d wash it off under the sink water and then I wouldn’t think anything about it after that. But that’s me lol. Like the post above mentioned, if it doesn’t sit well with you, you could contact customer service where you bought it?
