I purchased these lights with the intent to upgrade them once the tank was established for a year so I could start a true mixed reef tank. In the meantime though, I’ve been picking up small frags of hardier softies here and there. Besides the zoas I accidentally bleached when attempting a fresh water dip, everything seems healthy and doing good.

My question is, would adding a second light fixture (same one) allow for some additional softies and LPS corals? I still plan on upgrading down the road and the wife doesn’t like the mounting of the black boxes on the market. So until I can save the money to do the lights the “right way” I’m wondering if this would be a short term fix.

I do not know this fixture but general speaking - two fixtures of one type will give the double amount of photons at each level of the aquarium compared with one of them. You will double up your lights.

Sincerely Lasse
