Fin's Reef Savvy 125

And no glue or cement was used in aquascaping the tank. I want to be able change things up if I need to. I haven’t ever had a tank that didn’t have occasional re-scapes.

Not sure I like the fishless cycle. A different approach for me. I will ride it out though. I have seen people say it took six weeks or longer to finish theirs . I am not in a hurry though.

So far, I think the DC E-Flux pump is doing fine on the LifeReef skimmer. They say any pump around 900 gph will power the skimmer. So far, so good.

I like the scape also. The 2 dimensional shot from the front doesn’t really do it Justice.

Mine was about a couple weeks to a month if I remember correctly, Dr. Tims ammonia with Microbacter 7. It wasn't too bad but I wasn't in a rush either.

That's good to know, I might swap out my Mag 9 for something a little more efficent.

I still think it gives it justice. It looks great even from looking straight at it from a level height.

This is something I am going to work with on my re-scape, I think I'll be losing my shelf look and going for multiple Islands the next time around. Those rocks must be seated really well with eachother given some of there heights.

So when are you adding your first fish?

I have been fighting wiring and some plumbing. I was going to build a cabinet for controllers and other equipment. Couldn’t really come up with anything workable because of the tank location. So, I decided to mount everything to the back of the canopy and run my wires inside of wire duct. Gradually working stuff in, except for a number of transformers. Still trying to figure that one out. Anyway, here are a few pics of this process. It is still a mess, so don’t judge just yet. I had my 140 set up like this, but I didn’t have as much equipment on that tank.

Everything is so neat and clean. LOVE IT! How is the cycle going?

I tested it yesterday afternoon and I was at zero ammonia and zero nitrites. I put some Phosguard in a small reactor today to try to get the .32 Phosphates down. Good old Pukani rock. Might go down to PetCo to see if they have any decent fish. We don’t have any LFS here, except them. Nearest place is 70 miles away, either east or west of us.

Hard to shop around for good things when there is nowhere to shop. I shop almost exclusively online now, from one store and that's it. 0.32 is certainly up there lol shouldn't be hard to bring down though

Any online retailers that you trust?
Honestly, never bought fish online. Only corals. Humblefish (Bobby) is a friend of mine. I haven’t talked to him in a while. I wonder if he is still selling QT’d fish? I might have to touch base with him.

Might be worth touching base with him, good excuse to catch up at the very least. I am not sure if he is still selling but there are a couple of others who do. At the very least Bobby should be able to point you in the right direction if you did want to try shopping online. Doesn't hurt to poke around a little, online selection is usually MUCH larger than most LFS anyway
