I was wondering, who has had a fire coral in their tank?

and if you have, did you touch it out of curiosity to see what the sting was like?

I had one for a time, and yes, I did touch it. I definitely noticed the sting, but either mine wasn't terribly strong or I'm one of those fortunate people that it doesn't affect as strongly, because it wasn't bad at all. I've heard of some people having absolutely horrible experiences after even just brushing against one though.

I do not have any in my tank...however brushing against them scuba diving you remember the burn and pins and needles feeling forever....not good at all... And it's been 15 years since it happened...

A lot depends on where it stings you. A fingertip won't be too bad, but the inside of your arm or anywhere that has soft skin can be very painful. I think they make beautiful formations. I've had them in an aquarium once, in the end it just took over.
