Hi everyone,
My fire fish stomachs looks weird like I can see it and it’s even more noticeable as I already have a fire fish that looks like just this one and looks normal. Can’t tell if he’s not getting enough food or something else

Not getting enough food would be my first guess. It could have internal parasites also. Try feedng more see if it eats at all and if it does watch it to see when it defecates see if its white.

Yea I’ve never seen it poop but it does eat and go for food, it seems to get just as much as the other fish.

This type of fish has a known history of becoming thin and feeding off its liver which may be happening here

That also makes sense, Your/their body is going to start digesting stuff, liver is a good place to start if not a lot of fat/muscle mass . But any idea why they become thin in the first place? Ive had quite a few firefish in the past different kinds and havent run in to this before.

I really hope it’s not eating its own liver! I have two other fire fish and they look normal and all three eat the same food. I ordered some metro and focus to try to add to food, seems like it wouldent hurt to treat for something internal just in case.

its not transferable to other fish and they stop eating and in turn absorb from liver.
