. I have been here 16 years and only seen 3 fire places in homes. You should not have any issues. This winter another member was asking about a tank next to the fire place, but they were up north. The general concussions was there would not be an issue on his either.

Do you have an outside wall the you can vent the skimmer too? If you do you can vent the skimmer air line to the outside and you would never have an issue with PH, As you know with living here the house is closed up all the time and I was having PH issues. I drilled a hole in the wall and have my air coming from outside not and my PH is usually 8.1 of 8.26 now

being a Yankee from up north we used to have fires all the time, and even heated one of my parents houses basements with a Ben Franklin stove. Fire place back potatoes are the best. Wrap them in foil with olive oil and stick them in the coals. They come out so creamy Half a pound of butter, sour cream and bacon. That is your cook it for today

My son and I refaced this one it was butt-ugly 70's era tan brick, the mantle is solid black Walnut and we like that country look also!
3/4 x 12 masonry bit. Drilled the hole from the outside in, ran 10 ft of 3/8 tube to the skimmer. Caulked around the hole on both sides so that the hole is sealed and my PH went up. I did this with both of my skimmers. I had a CPR HOB bak pak 2 and ran the 1/4 inch lines 15 ft for fresh air. My current sump and skimmer are located a little closer to the outside wall and used the same hole.

I'm trying to find a place for the next tank and have a place next to the fire place. Where the big white chair is. Is there anything I should be aware of before placing a tank next to a fire place? Grant it we'll use it during the 2 weeks of cold weather down here in Florida. Lol
