Hey guys I got a fire shrimp that is about 1 inch long and I had him for two months and last night i found him on the bottom of the tank on his back convulsing almost. So I did a 35% water change and tested levels and i was getting high ammonia reading of 2 ppm Ni .5 and NA 5 PH 8.5 SO i of course freaked out cuz my tank been setup since february and after doing 2 more large water changes tested again and results were almost the same. So i tested my water that I had made up in my waterchange bucket that had just been mixed up and I was geetting the same reading. long story short i was useing a dropper thast had food stuck in it and after i cleaned it out everything was alot lower if not at zero AM was o NI 0 and NA 5 ph 8.4
Now after that im kind of left stumped as to what happened to him. I suspected my melanarus wrasse maybe was puicking on him but i didnt observe and once i watched him for a while my wrasse just swam past and ignored him. I just dont get what weent wrong any ideas what it could have been?? he had just molted a week ago and was acting fine until last night. He ended up dieing but im just stumped and want to figure out what happened before i get aniother one. I have a torch coral a frammer hammer an ultra hammer birdsnest coral and monitpora and ricordea mushroom plus some zoas and all are open and extending normally and all fish are acting normal. but i think my gobys pistol shrimp may have perished also havent seen him today

Imo it was probably the ammonia and nitrite and nitrate spike that killed him, there is a small chance it was a molt though my hermit crabs have fooled me several times.
