Hi all, just wondering what the general take is on Fire Shrimp in a reef tank? Are they hardy? Can they be kept for multiple years, if given a stable environment? Is it essentially the same as keeping a cleaner shrimp?

They are basically a cleaner shrimp with different colors. They seem a little more shy from my experience but the care is the same as a cleaner shrimp.

I have mine for over a year now but I can hardly see him out in the open. He’s always hiding behind a rock. He must be enjoying it back there. I don’t have to do anything special to care for him.

Ours has been exceptionally hardy through our Dino mess. He used to be really shy but now he comes out a lot. He loves eating anything we feed the fish or corals

I had fire srhimp and cleanser shrimp in a nano tank before. They get along well together but fire shrimp tend to be little aggressive. Its territorial and scared cleanser shrimp away but never actually attacked or anything.

I added a fire shrimp to my biocube 2 weeks after it fully being cycled. He is doing great and already molted since being added. He is a little shy hiding in the rock work, but during feeding he comes out and eats any food that falls to the ground. He comes out every so often though. I have also seen him try to clean my goby. Seems very peaceful and a great addition to any tank.
