Hi, I thinking of stocking for my 15-gallon tank.
I would really like a fire shrimp or a cleaner shrimp, what are your thoughts?
They both stay fairly small at 2 inches and aren't aggressive so if I kept one with peaceful tankmates would it do ok?
I have plenty of caves, live rock and crevasses.

sure why not? I even suggest that you do, it adds liveliness and color to the tank and amazes your guests. Both are reef safe, a fire shrimp hides most of the time, a cleaner shrimp is a bit more active but not as colorful as fire shrimp in my opinion

If you want to see it 24/7 get the skunk, if you want something to shoot out of a cave like some kind of evil, starving thing (even though he gets fed twice a day) get the fire shrimp
Nice way of putting it
I think I like the sound of the fire shrimp better

remember in a nano you can’t have a lot of fish etc so do you really want a shrimp that hides 90% of the time?

I love my cleaner shrimp...you could get both!
True, you could definitely get both.

ps. My experience is based off of fire shrimp in a 20 and 45 gallon. I still don’t see the little guy! My cleaner and peppermints in the 45 are always out and about and love to climb on me

Good point!
I do really really like shrimp so if they would be compatible together, I would love to have both!

If you wanted you could do a shrimp tank... skunk, fire, sexy, and peppermints plus maybe a few reef safe crabs like pom pom and porcelain and a pistol/goby pair. That’d be a very entertaining little tank!

Have you been drinking fire water :p
I do it every time I start the siphon for a water change. JK

I think it depends on the scape you have. I plan to get a fire shrimp because I have an open scape with a lot of arches for it to hide under but I’ll still be able to see it sometimes when it hides. If you have a ton of caves and dark spots in your tank, you may not be able to enjoy the fire shrimp as much as you would the cleaner. Both may be a good option too.

how do you guys keep shrimp? don't they irritate the crap out of your corals? my cleaner shrimp used to walk all over them during feeding, pulls food out of their mouths, pulls their poop out of their mouths. just constantly irritating them lol

lol "the one you can see 24/7, or the one that looks like some kinda evil" "I kinda like the evil one"
Lol
well I changed my mind again and I now have a cleaner shrimp! It arrived yesterday alongside a Randall’s pistol shrimp for my Yasha goby, everything is settling in well!
