Firefish Goby hiding behavior

Hi, after a 30 day QT, I introduced a firefish goby to my Evo 13.5. He seemed quite happy in his new habitat for the first week or so. Occasionally hiding in rocks but mostly out free swimming.

Then it disappeared... for days. Couldn't see it hiding anywhere so I figured it must have gotten snagged and consumed but one of my various hitchhikers. Then suddenly I saw it out swimming again and got really excited it didn't parish. 5 minutes later it was gone and I haven't seen it since. Is this normal for firefish? For the life of me I can't figure out where it's hiding as the tank is small and there's just not that many places.

This is pretty normal for them. Many will rarely make an appearance.

I have a pair that rarely come out of their cave. I can easily go a week or two without seeing them.

I have two in a 15 gallon, they used to be out all of the time. Now they come out once or twice a day when they are hungry. Some days they don't come out at all.
