I've had this firefish for about 8 weeks now. For the past few weeks I've noticed he has "grown" this little bump that appears to look like a bubble on his dorsal fin that I know was not there when bought. I bought two same day and the other fish has no visible defects and the one I'm describing only has the one spot everything else looks healthy. This is the best pic I could get. What's yalls opinion on what this is.

Its a decon that ties him into the internets and he can download anything on a firefox browser because its in the same speicie

+1 Lympho

Lymphocystis:

Symptoms - Lymphocystis appears as a white or beige colored cauliflower-like growth that usually starts on the fins and spines and sometimes spreads to the body. Initially it may be small (looks like ich), and then grows in size (which is how you know it’s not ich). Lympho is a virus that many fish carry for life. Fortunately, it is rarely fatal or even harmful to the fish, and symptoms will come and go.

Treatment options - No known cure or treatment exists. However, feeding vitamin-enriched foods and maintaining pristine water conditions may expedite the “going away” process.

I agree with the above diagnoses. I wouldn't worry about it. I would, however, caution against two firefish in the same tank. A bonded pr will coexist, if they are not a bonded pr one will kill the other.

Not sure if they are bonded yet. They were in the same tank at the pet store for about 6-8 weeks and I've had them for about 8 weeks. They eat together and sleep in same cave. Maybe it's a good sign and they will stay together. Typically does anyone know how long it takes before they start aggression towards each other. They seem to be full grown...

I have kept trios of fire fish without issue, but I did introduce them all at the same time and they were young fish. If you observe them you can tell which is the male just by the way they posture. If your fire fish are currently getting along, they should be fine.
