Hi everyone. Been a lurker for about a year. Now having an issue that has stumped me. Hoping the internet can help out.

I have a fluval evo 13.5 that's been running for the last 8 months. Mostly LPS dominant with some softies and SPS. I've had my ups and downs like everyone else, but overall my corals and fish are doing quite well. Daily dosing with AFR, weekly 25% water changes, parameters have been stable.

Now here's the problem - my firefish keep going missing. No body to be found.

My tank was initially stocked with an ocellaris clown, six line wrasse, and firefish. Have a mesh top. My fish were doing well until one day my firefish went missing. He's sometimes would go missing for about a day, but was always able to be found (there aren't that many places to hide in my fluval 13.5). About 4 days passed and still no firefish. I picked up each of my rocks, checked any hole he could fit in, my filter chambers, and the floor around me - nothing.

Two weeks go by and I come to terms with that he's gone. I then go to the fish store and buy a replacement firefish. He acclimates well, starts eating, and everything is going great. A week passes and he too goes missing. I wait two days and do the same search as I did before. Move all rocks, chambers, look everywhere outside the tank... nothing.

No real noticeable nitrate spikes. My other fish seem happy. And NO BODY has been found. It's driving me insane. Something has to be going on. Hope you guys can help.

If you still have the clowns and sixline you may have found your issue. These are both aggressive and firefish don’t cope well with aggression. As said above, a lid is a must with these guys (And any wrasses), they are very good jumpers.
