We have a firefish who most of the day stays in a little cave she made in our tank. Yesterday, we discovered she had somehow jumped out of the tank and was on top of our tank’s screen. We had no idea how long she’d been there but I quickly put her back into the tank. She floated down to the bottom and after a few moments of gulping, she quickly darted around the fish tank before making it back to her hideout. We have now not seen her at all today, even during feeding time (which she usually never misses). What are the chances she survived that kind of stress and is just recuperating? Should we be pulling apart our reef for a search and rescue mission?

I would put chances at high just based on my own experience. Mine jumped out of the tank into floor. Then like yours I put back into tank, went into it's cave and didn't see it for 3 weeks. I assumed dead. Then one day, out for feeding again. Still alive today. I would say give it some time.

Def give it time. I thought mine was dead for a month and then one day it popped out like nothing was wrong. Heck, I moved my tank this week and after I got all the rock out and it came time to catch the fish: no fire fish! When I got to the new house and started putting the tank back together I found him swimming around in the bottom of one of the buckets I moved the live rock in. Those things are like ninjas.
