Anyone ever seen or heard of a purple& red firefish pair? They’ve been inseparable for a couple weeks now. Kinda cool

That's pretty neat but I don't believe they are truly paired up, more like just sharing the same hiding spot.

Well they even swim together out in the open and literally don’t leave each other’s side so I wasn’t sure

I had a red and purple which thought same thing. both had their own "House" and then one day they both moved in to same rock opposite side of tank. Red got fat and then stayed in for a week. and started coming out but then the purple stayed in for another two weeks. never saw any babies or anything but then one day they both went back to their original houses.

I have never seen any firefish pair work out long term.

I had a red firefish that lived in the tunnels my pistol shrimp dug with the shrimp and his goby. They lived that way for a year. That firefish has since passed and was replaced by a helfrichi firefish. The goby won’t let the helfrichi anywhere near his tunnel.

I’m pretty sure I saw a hybrid baby in Reef Builders a few weeks ago. Let me look for a link
I think I have seen (online) common/purple firefish hybrid. The reefbuilders one is a helfrich’s/common firefish hybrid, supposedly.

He learned to nip freeloaders early on I guess!! ;)
