Firefish - Single, Pair, or Trios

Those with experience keeping firefish, so they seem to survive better alone, in a pair or a group of three or more? Or does it not make a difference? They will be in a 55 gallon with a pair of clowns for the time being.

They do fine in pairs. But I tried 2 pairs in a 300 gallon and they divided the tank and that worked....... until one pair decided that the tank was not big enough.

I bought a group of six for breeding purposes. After about 2 months alone in a 29 gallon, they've reduced their population down to two now...fingers are crossed that it wasn't disease, and that I have a mated pair.
