I have a QT that Ive started today, if using quick start etc, how long before I could put a firefish in please? How hardy are they?

I would recommend a minimum of 45 days of QT. So not to reinvent the wheel I added some guides I follow for QT.

Firefish are pretty hearty if your QT is set up properly you shouldn't have issues. Make sure it's eating and keep monitoring it.

I've followed this guide for my QT: ( though there are plenty of guides)

I'd also recommend reading this guide on ich and treatment as well:

QT's typically aren't fully cycled, relying instead on ammonia monitoring and water changes to deal with it. You can put it in today.

Bacteria in a bottle should get it going right away enough for one firefish

Get an ammonia badge and have some saltwater ready to use for WC in case the badge shows any ammonia
