firefish that refuses to come out months later

So I have a firefish who happens to be fairly healthy I do see him every few days for a matter of minutes then he sticks behind the rocks otherwise. He eats just fine but refuses to swim in the open low current or high current he doesn't care. he use to periodicly come out for a few hours but I haven't seen him do that in a month. Any ideas on how I can get him out of hiding?
