I noticed today my firefish had white stringy poop, might have had it a while but the firefish is relatively skittish and spends a lot of time in his hole. I have focus, metroplex, and prazipro on hand. However, i have a new clownfish in QT right now (been dosing prazi and feeded metro laced foods for a couple days as a preventative measure).

Couple of questions I have:

1. Would it be fine for me to move my firefish into the QT and just continue feeding metro laced foods?
2. i dosed prazi once 3 days ago. i am waiting on the 5-7 day period before dosing the second time. I do not see any external parasites on the firefish- would it be fine just dosing the second time with both the firefish and clown in QT?
3. the QT tank is small. 2.5 gallons. its the only thing i have and i'd rather use this qt and be diligent with ammonia tests/water changes than not QT at all. i feel like 2.5g for 2 fish (both small though) would be pushing it. QT is cycled, i've been using biospira and stability.
4. the only thing in the DT besides the firefish are snails, cleaner shrimp and some hermits. these guys don't carry internal parasites/i don't have to treat the DT do i?
5. i do not think there are flukes in either the clown or firefish, but should i do a freshwater dip to be sure? or just keep dosing prazi

thank you, I know this is a bit long

I would do a freshwater dip and put in your QT tank to treat. They are small enough that a 2.5 gallon will be fine just remember to put something like a few pvc elbows in there so they have a place to hide and feel safe.
I don't think your cuc will carry parisites but I honestly don't know that one.

metro+focus laced food is reef safe you could just feed him in the DT for 10-14 days. Just don’t overfeed to where your CUC gets a hold of the meds.

yeah, i was thinking about that and all. i just figured it might be easier to observe in a QT tank, espeically if i was already treating the clown

The only reason I wouldn’t do that is the clown could be carrying a parasite that could spread to the firefish before you can get a handle on it.

I second this. Fishing it out will stress it further more, bringing down its defenses & running the risk of exposure to any other parasite, disease or illnesses in your QT. From your OP, sounds like the little guy has already claimed & made its home. Plus the issue with the fire fish sounds internal & not external. I would continue following the prazi regiment & medicated food. & the inverts will not carry any parasites. Good luck.

I agree, I would continue to treat in the DT. Besides sharing parasites with the clown, I would be very concerned about ammonia becoming toxic VERY quickly in 2.5 gallons with two fish.

How did you make out with metro and focus feedings?... If you went that route.
I'm dealing with something similar.
