Good afternoon everyone

Had this firework clove polyps for about a week now.. Had it placed mid tank with mid flow but it wasn't opening up.. So after 5 days i moved a bit higher up to see if maybe they'll have better success there.. The clove polyps has about 20 heads, since i moved it they have opened up half way only but i have about 4 or 5 heads that look like theyre dying or already dead.. 1st time going through this so i dont know exactly what to do with a dying coral.. can it be saved or are the rest of them heading down that line..

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrates i keep it between 10-20
Temp 78
Salinity 34.9 ppt
Ph 8.2

How are they doing now? I’m having a similar problem. I’ve had my cloves for a few months and all the sudden this week they haven’t been opening as wide and today I noticed 2 polyps broke off onto the sand. My parameters all seem fine…

Mine have been doing quite well, they stayed closed for a couple more weeks and finally decided to open fully.. i lost a couple polyps in that 2 week span tho and they didn't open up until the dying polyps were gone.. But patience is key with them, give them moderate light and flow.. i started feeding them reef roids as well since..

That’s great!

Do you guys think that too high of a flow can cause them to shed/break off polyps?
I would think they prefer low to moderate flow.. i had them at high flow when first put in and it wasn't working out..

high flow can cause them to retract, and maybe shed or break off..

Moderate light and water flow - similar to requirements of xenia and GSP coral
