A friend of mine has a large fireworm about as big as a dime in diameter and over a foot in length in his corner 56. He also has a huge 12 inch or more Rbta in his 100 gallon that he wants to put in the 56. Will he have any problems with a fireworm and bubble tip in the same tank?

Are you sure it's a true fireworm? I've only seen 2 real ones show up in fish forums since 1999. If it is a true fireworm, yes, it is a risk.

it's in my buddies tank. He saw it once and tried to pull it out. About a foot of it broke off. He said he thought it was a fireworm bc it only had bristles on its sides. I'm playing middle man for him and strongly encouraging him to join R2R.

Honestly, it's probably not one if they weren't really going on other characteristics. It's pretty easy to tell them, but it's not by the bristles. JOIN worm stranger! We are kind people :)

Looks like it could be an Eunice aka Bobbit Worm. A picture of the mouth would help. Where is @Wiz

No. It's probably a Eurythoe complanata. I'm thinking of changing the common name in the guide to remove the term "fireworm", as it confusing and I don't really care for the label. The complanata is a super common bristle worm and the term/label lead people to believe they are "bad". THE fireworm is the Hermodice carunculata and that one really should be removed as they eat a lot of things, including coral and nems.

So much Goin on with the house and family and holidays. Even my tank is suffering. :( my sps are ill. But it's a cool worm just the same. And I agree it Confusing. I think fire worm should be for the dangerous type (s). These that are not so intimidating should not be.
