Hi,

I just started a new tank with a live rock. And just then, I saw a bubble algae and decided to wash and dry the rock and this rather big worm creeped out of the rock. Despite being in tap water, it is still alive and I think it is roughly 7 or 8cm in length.

Does anyone know what it may be? I am so glad I took this rock out..

The thin side is its tail. Thick side has two large back eyes

Euthanize it to be safe. If it's a helpful bristleworm there will be more. If it's not, no loss. I have a ton of worms in my tank that just clean stuff up. None of them look like that

This is a fire worm. Note the white spines.

Looks like a common bristleworm.

Right, well it is definitely not the bristle worms I have seen. Looks more like eunice worm... but yep not a fire worm either
