Just got done doing my first ~30% change (50 gallons). Went pretty well but was a bit stressful due to the volume of water I was dealing with. Had an overflow and made me happy it was in my garage/shop! Accidentally pumped too much water into sump without sending it up to display. Lesson learned. Quickly corrected with some plug/pump changes and was good to go. The fish seemed happy as could be prior to change but I am having trouble w nitrite level and was wanting to give them some fresh water after the fish had been in original water for ~4 weeks. I know it is normal for it to spike but it wasn't seeming to come back down. 150 gallon display, 20 gallon sump. 2 clowns and 3 chromis. Any recommendation on nitrite level?

I meant nitrite, all other levels are good based on my testing and from the LFS. I did add some phosguard at their recommendation bc I am using tap H2O. I also added prime per directions but was hoping to see this number come down and it is staying at 5 ppm. Water is clear as can be and the fish are happy. I want to add more and feel like I cant right now due to nitrite levels. From my reading, nitrite does cause issues but please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!

It is a new tank and I let it roll for appx one month before adding fish. Added quick start and a frozen dead shrimp to get the process going.

Pic I added was supposed to be a video of the entire system. Not sure how to add video on tapatalk.

I am going on 2 months or more of tank operation and you think it still hasn't cycled?

Any recommendation on nitrite level?

My recommendation is to not care, and probably not even measure nitrite. :D

It's not particularly toxic in a marine system and I've never heard of a tank with problematic levels (20+ ppm?). If there is some during cycling, it will decline.

Thanks for the input Randy. I have been waiting on that level to drop before adding any more fish....

That's certainly fine, as long as the result is not test error. :D
