I bought my first Anemone today, it's a sabae anemone. I've turned my flow down to the lowest setting on my powerheads. I have snail guards on it and thought that would be good enough, but he's let go of the rock and headed straight into the powerhead I had to save him 2 times. I moved him back to another rock and he seems happy now, but I'm not sure about over night when I'm not standing guard. No where is open to now to buy anything like coarse foam, is there anything home made I might have here I can do, or can I leave powerheads off while I sleep? I'll still have surface agitation and mild flow from return pumps. Just to add there's no corals in the tank, just 3 tangs, wrasse, and clown pair.

Cool thanks. That's what I was assuming, but wasn't sure if leaving the powerheads off completely would have any adverse affects.

It's a 125 with about 500gph overflow. Only have the other 2 powerheads for flow. Have all juvenile fish.

I know they'll move, was just mainly wondering about leaving the powerheads off so I can sleep tonight without waking up worrying about it all night. I'm gonna try to get coarse foam tomorrow and make a guard.

You can use nylons/panty hose, if the power head is not too small.

Try placing on the sand bed near a rock. A sabae was my first anemone. It has never stopped moving, constantly wandering around. Usually sticks to near the sand bed, or near it. I now have 3 BTA's, and 5 rock flowers (started with 1), that stay put. The Sabae is in a new spot every few days.

I have no experience with Sebae anemones, but lots with RBTAs.
Try placing it where you'd hope it will make a home, and then rest a piece of eggcrate against it. For me, this has allowed RBTAs time to attach before being blow away.
Leave it over it overnight and hopefully it will be attached when you check it out tomorrow.

And if I were you, I'd want to keep the powerheads running.

My wife found some pantyhose, they should keep him from getting sucked into the powerhead, but if he gets into the current I guess he'll just be stuck against it till I wake up

Hopefully it's fine for now, I'm in bed now. I got my skimmer running and carbon in both filter socks.
