Hey everyone, just bought my first bta. It's been in a little over 24 hours, just wanted to know if everything looks okay with it. Little concerned with where it decided to place itself, it moved a few inches from where I placed it originally and has been set there since. Clowns have looked at it and seemed interested in it, but have stayed away. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! I have a biocube 32, running for 10 months.

It attached and inflated which is a good sign. Hard to tell sometimes, just wait few days, also check on his mouth, if it is gasping opened, deflated after few days or a week then you need to treat, otherwise, no need to worry

Quick question, how does one anemone proof powerheads, I've heard horror stories of many anemones getting sucked into them?

Looks fine to me. The first 24 hours are always the scariest part.

EDIT: and welcome to R2R!!!

Nice looking nem, it will find it's happy place.
Thank you! The guy at my lfs suggested this one because it was hosting a clown there and it looked full and healthy, fortunately for me I live nearby an amazing lfs, never upsell and all advice has been spot on. Shout out to absolutely fish in Clifton, nj

Turn ph off for the first night let the nem settle down, that what I normally do.
Cover you powerhead with pantyhose till the nem find its spot

Sounds like a solid plan, thanks! Do you dose anything to the tank at all, I haven't attempted anything like that just yet, stick with a good water change every Monday and everything seems to be doing great

I would not dose anything unless repeated test kit results showed a deficiency.

Unless you are keeping some coral, you want to dose 2 part +Mg to keep up with Alk, Ca. I don't dose anything into my tank. IMO, avoid using chemical will be better, as long as you understand what need to be checked and what need to be changed on time. WC is one good way to keep param in control. I test my water weekly for a certain period of time, and reduce to every 2 weeks to understand how parameter change when your tank is mature. It helps you keep a stable water for most nems and coral
For example with No3 and PO4 when it gets way too high, people use carbon dosing to reduce them. In my experience, it helps reduce NO3Po4 but it can cause parameter swing (PH).
