I got an el cheapo macro extension tube off Amazon and this morning was my first time playing around with it. It did pretty well with the frags I have sitting on the bottom close to the edge of the tank. However, I haven't quite figured out how to get really good images of the pieces more towards the center of the tank yet. I tried different combinations of the different size tubes individually and together but just couldn't seem to figure it out. But I think for a first attempt from a non professional these aren't too shabby.

Nice! I have a nikon d40 that I just cant good pictures cause I have no room for a tripod.
Are your pictures free hand?

I have only a 90mm macro lens which is too short in focal length

Very nice! Every time I would get a new camera, I would almost panic because it took awhile to learn them each time. The quality of my pictures would take a step back before they moved forward again.

They're free hand. I used the edge of the tank stand or put a couple of fingers on the glass to steady my hand.

a macro tube will bring the focal distance closer to the glass of the lens so i wouldn't use that for the middle tank shots. from what i can see you may need to get the lens absolutely square to the glass, i put my lens on the glass so i know there is no angle between the end of the lens and the tanks glass. otherwise nice shots :)

you can get rubber lens hoods so you don't scratch the tank with the lens :) really cheap too.

Thank you. I'll try that next time. :)
