Not sure if I like it a ton. I'm a fan of NSA scapes but I have all this live rock so I figured I'd give it a go, not really the best with this stuff. I may still buy all the Marco and just go with that but then I'd have a super long cycle + it'll take a while for the tank to settle. Tank is 30" high btw, so it doesn't look like it but the rock is a bit high. 60x30x30

There's nothing wrong with your rock scape visually. It generally follows the rule of thirds from what I perceive. What is NSA? I think national security agency but I'm sure you mean something different you have live rock and you're talking about using marco rock? What are your thoughts here? I'm thinking we should smoke a lot of weed together and you'd realize how that's not better than live rock.

I mean, we are reefing...right? heh. I know I know, LR is better. I really do like the negative space look. Just convincing myself to be ok with this and move forward

This is your tank... You are going to look at it everyday. If you're good with it, all others be danged . You do you, just do as much LR as you can afford lol.

i love the flexibility that marco affords, there are some real nice scapes i have seen with that material and was very tempted to use it for mine but i am an RLR and NSW man myself, wish there was a way of having the best of both worlds with man made rock, i guess you could culture it for 3 or 4 months in those big tubs you guys get over there but all that cycling etc uuuggghhh, i would be tempted to go dump it in an estuary or the ocean for 4 months so i did not have to deal with the cycling issues.

Nice start off anyway

I would suggest taking that rock in the middle off the sand and give yourself 2 islands essentially. Idk if you're into clams, carpet anemones, plates or similar LPS but that's typically a good area for them. Just my two cents.

I like the scape. I don't think it's too tall at all. You can get a few pieces of good live rock and put them in the sump to seed that tank. Won't be long before it's as good as a tank full of that same live rock for a fraction of the cost.
