Happy to say that bubble tip that we picked up around a month and a half ago has decided to split this morning. Had to run out to get to work but will try to get some photos tommorw of them. It even looks like it may split again from the main body. Do they do that? Multiple splits at a time or is it a singular thing ? So cool . Now if our clowns will ever host that would be great .

Pic is from yesterday , I did some rescaping so he was a little more exposed than he was in his normal branch rock cradle he was in .

Have you been feeding it?

The more you feed the faster they split. I've never direct feed mine or i'd have twice as many. I do feed the tank 3 times a day though.
That's why I was asking the op.

Why , I am happy it split .
Feeding it so heavily can actually stress the anemone, It also cause excess nutrients from the extra anemone waste AND it will cause the anemone to split a LOT of times and potentially take over the tank while stinging all corals in it's path...

Noted , but for now I am happy . Guess I shouldnt have been . Thanks for the input .

Hey . Congrats on the split !

I just want to be the contrarian and say I fed my two BTA twice a week for 4-5months . Shrimp/Mysis/brine etc . No splitting.

then Covid happens , got distracted , didn’t feed the BTA for 2 months

within days of each other both split

No, no, your missing the point. Congratulations on the split! Its very exciting and you should be happy! I was just saying that unless you want a tank full of BTA’s maybe limit feedings! Didnt mean to be a killjoy

Understood , but I will happily feed this little guy and let him split all he wants for a while. With having the extra space of the 60 frag tank coming online VERY soon and the 180 penisula being added shortly after that I will have plenty of space for them for the moment . Plus I could always give some away to local reefers starting out , similar to how I received mine. At the moment I dont see a concern, but it is all noted.

My clow
Happy?? 1 becomes 2, 2 become 4 ....BTA's Love/hate. Thankfully my euphyllia's keep them in their place

My clowns over feed my anemone! It’s ridiculous how obsessed they are with it, now it’s splitting. I’m hoping this help the anemone with all the attention and food it gets
