Hey everyone I have a question about corals...
Last night sometime, my beautiful purple/green/red acan fell onto my montipora. When I found it this morning, I immediately got him off and put him on the sand. He wasnt retracted or anything but he had white slimey stuff on him...like melted flesh? He was NOT happy.
There are 6-8 heads on him and maybe 3 "melted"/turned into that white stuff. Im not sure if those heads are gone or just covered by the white slime/froth.
Too early to get pics before work but Ill snap some tonight.

1) who has seen some nasty chemical warfare?
2) is he going to recover?

It happens.. sometimes it doesn't even take a coral to fall on another. If one senses another is to close it will attack. I'm sure it will be fine over time, you might lose a bit of it but it will grow back with good feedings and water parameters. Post a picture if you can. You also should blow off the "slime" with a turkey baster lightly.

I can only answer the nasty chemical warfare, I had a scolly fall onto a Aussie acan- that was only going to end one way fully destroyed scolly. Ive witnessed in one of my old tanks an Aussie acan attacking another coral with its tentacles at night, that didn't end well either.

so youre saying, both times-the acan survived?
Im holding out hope! He is one awesome looking dude

They survived both times with no damage at all. As above keep an eye on it, gently blast away dead flesh using a turkey blaster. Can you post a photo of the damage?

I will take one this afternoon. I would have last night but thank god I realized beforehand that I had a bunch of hair products on my hands! lol
Went to do my normal make-up-5-gal for waterchange..."wow my hands are really slippery"....so I had to trash it all and wash out the buckets.
Anyway! all the other heads were opened and outstretched (my acans are always hungry) but the burnt side was facing away from the glass.
Good idea with the turkey baster.
