Got a clam. Little worried about him. Seems to gap and seems paled. Any ideas.

Hmm, from the pic it doesn't look to bad. A few questions i'd ask you, have you had it long? What light is it under? Anything in the tank that may pick at it? If i have a clam that is looking a bit off or small i will dose phyto a few times a week until they perk up. If your water and light is adequate the phyto really helps.

I got it last Sunday so not long. They only thing that could pick at it would be cleaner shrimp. I am only concerned because I had it a little higher and it took a tumble. It didn't have the pale patch before. Might have been too much light. The lights are aquatic life halo leds.

Yes that has happened to my clams from the LEDs. That large of a Crocea can stay in the sand bed.
Mantle looks a little ruffled or pinched in that image. If you run charcoal consider replacing the product with a new batch.
Can you turn your lights down to an acclimation mode for a couple days?

I can adjust the intensity and spectrum on these lights so I will turn it down a tad. I run chemi pure blue in a reactor. I guess I could change it out [emoji37] . Are you worried it might be the beginning of PMD? Would polypads have any effect? I also use that.

Yeah the mantle does look a little pinched, but that could just be the image. Running fresh charcoal has benefited my clams with PMD. It seems like Crocea or more prone to the ailment. I am not familiar with the use of polypads, sorry.

Ok. I will replace mine tonight or tomorrow. I don't think a new polypads would hurt while I am down there either. Ty for the info!

The top right looks like the beginning of PMD for sure to me. Is there any immediate action needed or can I dip when I get home monday?

So I guess I should figure out how to get more carbon running in the system. I am pretty sure it was light stress and shift in homes that brought it out. It is not real bad but it's my first case so I'm nervous.

It doesn't look bad;)

No he just has a bit of pinch in the upper right. I know I am most likely freaking for no reason. He will most likely get it under control all on his own once he settles. I am not used to the power of leds and set him too high to start [emoji15] on top of changing tanks after years in another's system.

my first clam passed. love clam but still hesitating for a 2nd one
