First Community Reef tank start, opinions appreciated!

Hello all! My wife and i have just started our first saltwater tank and after tons of research ive decided to slowly build a community reef setup.
We were given a 60gal tank, base, lights, heater, and filter setup. Lighting is dual 18in t5s atm but have ordered a set of 24in Fluval programmable LEDs.
-For filtration i have a Api Filstar XP-M, which will likely not be enough by itself in the long run...
-will be adding powerheads this weekend hopefully after i get some opinions from yall, and some local reefers.
-I am using Lace rock as my main structure and just added a 5lb live rock today. All sitting on Caribsea live sand.

Any and all opinions and help appreciated as i venture into this long term slow process!

Canister filters aren't very popular with saltwater reefers. They are more popular with fresh water tanks. They can work, but they do need more maintenance.

Look into ATI and Giessman t5 bulbs. I would continue use of the t5s and use the LEDs you bought to supplement them, since they aren't strong enough to penetrate very far. You may look into adding more rock as well for added biological filtration.
