Hi I just added my first soft coral frags to my tank after making sure the water parameters were right. Now what do it do? I am not sure how they should look or how I will know that they are doing well? Could you please share some tips? Thanks in advance for the help.

Soft coral are fairly easy to care for. Depending on which soft corals you have though, will depend on what to watch for. There are really no special care requirements needed at this point that I can think of. Do you have some pics you can post? Knowing what you have will help us tell you what to look for.

Be patient and don't mess with them. From my admittedly limited experience, some "open up" and do their thing almost instantly (20-30 minutes) and others take days to feel comfortable, even hardy ones. My GSP opened up fairly quickly when I put the frag in the tank and a week or two later I glued it to the back wall. It opened up for 1.5-2 days and then closed up for 2-3 days (I think one of the fish was rubbing on it). After a few days it started opening again and is now fully open and doing its thing.

Thanks for the responses. I purchased one Lavender Mushroom and one Bullseye Rhodactis. Right now they just look like rocks and I am worried that one is upside down? Thanks again.

No clue what your pic's are showing. How long has tank been running? You said your parameters were right? Could you please show parameters, for better understanding.

Hi, thanks for the help. Here are the parameters from this morning:

Phosphate = 0.25
Calcium = 350
Magnesium = 1200
Alkalinity = 9.8

My tank has been running for 6 months.

I don't think they are upside down. I will post a couple of pics for reference for you.

The 1st pic is a ricordia

2nd pic is Rhodactis

Thank you! The pics are beautiful. Hopefully I can get there one day. I adjusted the mushroom. I think the black area is the coral. Is that correct?
