Thanks everyone for taking the time to read my post. So I did my research and decided to take the plunge and get a saltwater tank. I bounced between a big tank and a small tank but settled on going with smaller. I ended up getting the Fluval 10531A1 SEA Aquairum Kit 13,5 gallon.(I know smaller tanks are harder) I started with Dry Rock, used CaribSea Aragalive in Fiji Pink and Imagitarium Pacific Ocean Water and added Instant Ocean Bio-Spira water. I am currently ghost feeding to start the ammonia process until I get ammonia to manual add to tank. (Don't know of local fish store in my area). My goal is to eventually have a Clown Fish, Goby, 2 Hermit Crabs, 2 Turbo Snails and 2 Shrimp. Eventually as the dry rock becomes more stabile I would like to add some corals. I just bought a 425gph to help with flow as well. My big concern is my set up of my rock. If I should have set it up a different way or if this set up will be ok. Also if anyone has any tips or suggestion for fish and corals and general things I should be watching out for or things that will help my tank out. Thanks

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I can tell you did your research! I think you're on the right track with everything you've written! There are some great guides out there with regard to cycling and stocking a new tank, but I'm guessing you've already seen those. My only advice right now is to take is slow, use verified trusted sources for your information, and if you have any particular concerns about your setup, feel free to ask here!

For your first tank, simplicity will win out any day over any of the fancy options you can try later on :) Everyone has an opinion of how to run a saltwater tank, so take it all with a grain of salt and understand that people are passionate about topics, but these passions are often just opinions! As long as you focus on consistency and simplicity, you set yourself up to be in the best position to succeed long term as a reefer!

PS- nothing wrong with your rock :) You'll likely move it around about a thousand times until you find an aquascape you love. It's a personal preference type of thing.

Sounds like you have a plan in mind. So just stick to it and don't rush things. Make sure you have good testing kits for testing your water parameters.

Also, you will probably wind up wanting to add more to your CUC than just two hermits and two snails. A good place to get what you need for a tank would be the website for @reefcleaners. They have cleaner packages for all sizes of aquariums.

Welcome to the hobby ! I would suggest asking 1000 questions on here, you will get some really good advice !

One thing to possibly look into is bacteria in a bottle . This will get your good bacteria population Going a little quicker than ghost feeding. I used turbo start 900 to get my bacteria going when I started my tank. Some people like it and some don’t - it’s a matter of preference.

Either way, good luck !
