I was cleaning my tank and as my rocks have settled over time one rock kept getting closer to the glass. I was unable to clean the glass so I decided to adjust my aquascape slightly. Well the was the worst thing I could have done as my all of my rocks fell over. The tip of one of my frags broke off and 6 others were torn from the rock or torn off of their frag plugs.

Bad picture of the frag that was broken.

I've got everything back in place and glued down. I am completely stressed now though. Lots of detritus was stirred up in the commotion. I was thinking it might be a good idea to do an emergency 10% water change. Any suggestions?

I don't think you need to change any water. You'll want to remove the detritus though. Do you have any filtration in place to remove it?

I have filter sponges in my overflow. It's AIO IM Fusion 40. I also have a skimmer. The sandbed has a lot of "sediment" that has settled on top. Should I leave it alone for now as to not cause any additional stress or should I try to remove it with a syphon?

Take a turkey baster and blow the sediment off your rocks and corals a couple times the next couple of hours. Clean out your foam pads. Should be fine!

You definitely want to remove the detritus. Left in the tank it will decompose and raise Nitrates. If there is a lot you may need to use a siphon. Otherwise just keep it suspended in the water and let your filter and skimmer catch it.

I turn all my pumps up nearly to the point of creating a sand storm about once a day just to suspend that stuff in the water column for a bit so It will get into the sump and filter socks and skimmer.

I have some filter sponges in my over flow but they are very porous and only get cleaned every few months. I run 200 micron socks and change them every 3 days.

You might want to increase your circulation if your getting that much sediment . ...easier than having to manually remove it regularly .

That is far from a disaster....lol...more like an inconvenience
