ok, I just got back my first ever ICP test, I wanted to take a deep look at my tank (beyond the household test kit views) because this hobby is amazing. im kind confused now lol, and would like help understanding this data. so here we go. Please know that I can handle mockery, but not HARD CURE RUDE insults to my intelligence. some people woooooooo. HAHAHAHAHA
STATS
1. my tank is a 185TG (dt empty volume 150g + sump empty volume 25g +frag empty tank volume 10g ) so I believe the true water volume is less than 180.
2. I Auto dose the following CA, DOI NOPOX, SODA ASH, TRACE ELEMTS, STRONTIUM, IODINE, ACRO POWER, MG, dosing set per the instructions and based on 185 tg. i will correct this by reducing the dose amount
3. This water was tested 1week post 60g WC, using reef crystal salt mix, mixed for 1 day at 80 degrees
4. I believe my growth rate has always been very very slow. this was the reason for the test.
5. water looks great, all fish are fat an healthy, no algae problems
6. Tank is 2 years old
all but these items in this picture came back with a green status. I can adjust the CA, SR, & I; so no real question there, BUT these other I have no idea and I will explain on down in this thread.
TIN? I have no clue as to what, why, or where to look, research says start by looking for corrosion, thats all i know at this point. they recommended the following actions for tin.
As Tin can be very dangerous to you aquarium you should first try to find the contamination source. To help you in finding the source of error, we have listed the most common sources of tin (sorted in descending order of frequency):
1. Contaminated trace elements
my trace is Kent Marine Essential Elements and it runs out this weekend replacing with reef plus
2. Metals near or in the aquarium (as rusty clamps or screws) I have a few hose clamps above the sumps water line that i will be replacing.
3. Contaminated salts
Bromide? I have no clue as to what, why, or where to look. they made no recommendation for acting like they did for tin? soooooooooo?
Lithium? no clue. they recommended the following.
Check for possible contamination sources. To help you in your search for the source of error, we have listed them the most common lithium sources (sorted in descending order of frequency):
1. Trace element overdose/contamination my trace is Kent Marine Essential Elements and it runs out this weekend replacing with reef plus
2. Contaminated salts / contaminated magnesium salts
3. Artificial Rock/ Reef ceramics. i have two large encrusted fake corals in the tank 1'x18 ". This will be a sad loss if its the cause.
4. Food see my phos result below for food details my food mix is top shelf ( IMO )
molybdenum?????????? test results showed the end of the green range but print off said red so I am not sure if this is really a problem but still --------molybdenum? they made no recommendation for acting.
Zinc?????? they recommended the following.
Check for possible contamination source. To assist you in finding the source of error, we have listed the most common sources of zinc (sorted in descending order of frequency):
1. Contaminated trace elements my trace is Kent Marine Essential Elements and it runs out this weekend replacing with reef plus
2. Hand Cream applied before working in the aquarium
3. Contaminated salts
iron? i do not dose iron. they recommended the following.
Check for possible contamination sources. To help you in finding the source of error, we have listed them the most common sources of iron (sorted in descending order of frequency):
1. Trace element overdose / contamination-my trace is Kent Marine Essential Elements and it runs out this weekend replacing with reef plus
2. Metals near or in the aquarium (as rusty clamps or screws) I have a few hose clamps above the sumps water line that i will be replacing.
3. Iron based Phosphate remover (too much flow in reactor)
4. Low pH in the aquarium
P and po4. they recommended the following. my food is homemade. morning food that is made up of fresh fish shrimp octo squid an krill, mixed with vitamins and meds. then in the afternoon its a nori sheet and a good dash of north fin brand krill and marine pellets.
so please any advice is welcome and wanted. I see a few things popping up like the salt and the trace elements so that makes me wonder and I am swapping out the kent trace with reef plus and this may be the nail in the coffin for my use of I O REEF CRYSTALS.
