I just got my first fish...2 Green Chromis. I fed them a little roger's reef food when i got home and they gobbled it up. I guess I am just wondering how often and how much should I feed them. Also, how long should I leave the filer and power head off? I tried to break the frozen food up but it seems to stay in big chunks which they pick at until it sinks (then my zombie comes out and eats it). Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you:bigsmile:

Its not necessary, just stay away from flake. I bought it thinking that it would be good, but was later told that there isnt much nutrition in flake food. But the pellets I use are the Spectrum brand because it has both meaty ingredients and veggie ingredients to balance out their diet...

best results with frozen food is to have a container with tank water to thaw it in. This way you will be able too see just how much you are adding to the tank and will find a little goes a long way.

okay, do I just feed them until they wont eat anymore or how do I know how much to give them? do you thaw the frozen food at all before giving it to them?

Yes I thaw the food in a little cup that I marked as a "Fish cup" so no one accidentally drinks out of it... I never wash it with soap though as residue could stay on the cup. As for how much.. I generally try to make sure that all my fish get a good portion of food... maybe 5 or 6 bites for frozen foods and 3 or so pellets... except for my bicolor chromis... he is a pig and probably gets way more lol

1 cube size of rods food thawed in about 2 cups of water is how I do it and it goes a long way. I would suspect for the amount of fish you have it would feed your tank for several days.
