First ICP Test Results.. silicon?

Howdy,

I got my first ICP results back and I'm concerned with silicon. My RO water seems to have it either through storage (55 gallon food safe barrel) the tubing 30 foot hose or just naturally from the tap. Can I add a canister or something to remove it? How do I remove it from the tank?

Additionally I see high aluminum. I have marine pure blocks in my tank at the reccomended amount per my 30 gallon AIO tank. I've read that they're a major cause for elevated aluminum. Should I remove them? Will my nitrogen cycle get messed up due to removing beneficial bacteria ? How do I remove the aluminum?

It claims my iodine is low? Is this of concern?

Unless you have a diatom problem, I'd ignore the silicate. But a new DI or a second DI will reduce it in the RO/DI. It is among the harder ions to remove. That said, I'm not sure it is the main source in your tank anyway.

At 9 ppb, the aluminum is not high enough to be a problem, IMO.

You don't think it's necessary to look into a better ro/di unit than the ro buddie?

No, silicate and green algae are unrelated.

I would not do anything about aluminum.

No need for different RO/DI, but an add on DI could be useful and not very expensive.

Keep the blocks if you think they do anything useful.

I am not sure they're doing anything useful. If you think my nitrogen cycle will continue without them I'd take them out in a heartbeat.

I'm looking at adding a two canister system from brs and removing the ro buddie one. Will feel comfortable about it.

I think I'll add a boyd chemipure blue bag.
