I've been kicking the idea of turning my second sump chamber into an algae farm. Always looking for a little more efficiency out of my filtration and this was the next logical step. I wanted a small LED to sit on top of the sump. Prices for the fixtures were all over the board and the only one I liked was $129. There's no way I was going to spend that to grow algae. So off to EBay I went and discovered the Finnex FugeRay. At $37.50 including shipping it was worth a shot.
So, my first impression was Wow! Amazing little unit for the money. After running it all night it was barely warm to the touch. Comes with 4 blue moonlights on a separate switch and 32 white LEDS. Crazy bright and perfect for this application. Longevity remains to be seen, but so far I couldn't be happier. I've got some sump remodeling to do this weekend
