Got my self my first blue maxima clam today. It is about 6 inches long. I have acclimated it and added to my tank but I do have a few questions.

The owner of my LFS told me a few things that doesnt seem to make sense to what I read. He said to place it in the sand out of direct light. I read everywhere they can not get enough light. Also is it ok to put it in the sand. Do I have to place a rock or something under it for it attach to?

Thank you for any help I dont want to mess this up

I've never heard of keeping clams in low light, I think that was bad advice but I'm no clam expert; maybe someone with more experience can chime in.

I can understand a little acclimation, especially if the clam is going from cheap older lights or bulbs to higher watt MH or expensive LEDS fixture, but a short acclimation.

A six inch Maxima is a pretty large clam, it may not need to attach any longer or will attach simply because it's own weight provides enough stability. Long story short sand bed is fine as long as your lighting is sufficient.
