Hello everyone. Last September I started new into the hobby with my first nano, soon to be, reef tank. I learned a lot in the course of 6 months. Had some fish and lost them for unknown reason at the time. But bouncing back.
I have a 20 gallon long tank set to be a mixed reef. I haven't put in any coral yet, but hoping to start putting in some soon.

My equipment I have right now is a Red sea reef wave 25, flow at 30% forward. 2x AI prime HD 16's, A bubble Magnus in tank protein skimmer, and a hob seachem tidal 55. Everything works great and loving the journey. Still have some upgrades to do mainly with my test kits, but that's just part of the journey.

I had a RFA last month and unfortunately it passed.

I got some new additions to my crew today. After tweaking my maintenance schedule I have been able to keep parameters down and lowered the flow of my pump to help out a new RFA. I also got a tuxedo urchin and a green star polyps. After the polyps open up I will post a picture of them, they are a little mad after dipping and placement and haven't came out yet.

Looks like great progress so far. I got my first nano in April 2020. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

I will, and thanks so much. Only question so far that I am having a hard time researching is the best flow rate for the Red Sea Reef Wave 25 I have. I have it at 10% forward, 20% reverse right now so the RFA can attach and still have flow in the tank.

There's no answer for that really. Depends what you're trying to keep in there. My advice would be to put it relatively low and increase it slowly until you notice the corals being disturbed. It's usually very apparent if the flow is stressing them out. You can then test every week or so adding some more flow and seeing if they adjust or not.

I'll try that, thanks for the advice. That makes a lot of sense too.
