First parameters

Just got my test kits through the mail.

Had water and live rock in for 5 days.

Parameters are...

Temp 26c
Salinity 1.026
Ph 8
Ammonia 0.25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5

I am Confused to see nitrate giving a result... any help?

If live rock, you already have the bacteria doing it's thing.

The other possibility is that the rock is leaching nitrates.

And the final possibility is if you used tap water....it contains nitrates.

Or you don't have enough bacteria in your tank or biological filtration to absorb the nitrates. Another can be doing a simple 20-40 percent water change.
