This is my first post here on the forum. I just thought I would share some pictures of my current tank. This is a 20g Tall softie/lps reef.

A little background information. I've been in the hobby for 6-8 years now. I started with this 20G and then moved everything over to a 40G. After being very busy and not having the time, I let the 40g go down hill. Fortunately I did not lost any fish. The tank was just over taken by algae. I will be trading the fish in at the LFS and then moving the tank to my current house to set back up at a later date. In the mean time, I set my 20g back up in the new house. The tank was setup in early March, 2019 using dry rock and dry sand. After letting the tank cycle, I added my first fish in early May.

Many of the corals that were in my 40 (let me just say they were in bad shape) were transferred to the 20. Corals that were transferred include: a hairy mushroom, eagle eye zoas, green ricordia mushroom, green hammer, frogspawn, and some acans. The zoas and mushrooms bounced back very quickly and have already started showing signs of growth. The frogspawn, hammer, and acans were a different story. The first several weeks, the polyps would barely extend. I was to the point where I expected to lose them. I started target feeding twice a week with reef roids to try and save them. Within 2 weeks, all three corals began bouncing back. They still dont look anywhere near 100%, but are much improved. I've since added several new corals. Below is a list of my setup and stocking:

Equipment
20G Tall, Open top
Current USA Orbit Marine LED lighting (not the best light, but works)
Aquamax HOB skimmer
2 Koralia 425s
Eheim 75W heater

Stocking
2 Clown Fish (1 orange/white, 1 black/white)
4 snails (2 trochus, 1 Astrea, 1 nassarias)
2 scarlet hermits
1 emerald crab
Green star polyp
Duncan coral
Pipe Organ
Green Hammer
Acans
Frogspawn
Green candy cane
Hairy mushroom
Green ricordia
Zoas (eagle eye, playboy bunny, and red people eaters)

All new corals are doing great except the pipe organ. It was open for about 2 weeks and then decided to close. I left it for a couple days and then moved it to the bottom of the tank in a higher flow area. It still has not opened.

I'm thinking about adding a tail spot blenny to this tank. What are you guys thoughts? I've never kept a blenny. I've always kept gobies instead, but I do like the personality of blennies.

A blenny would be a good choice. I have had a Bicolor before, liked to perch on the rockwork a lot. A Twinspot would be another good option.

I was just at a LFS and saw a Forktail Blenny, very cool fish. I am doing some more research on that one, the venomous and semi aggressive aspects may not work for me.

Nice tank, will be cool to see where you go with it

Welcome back. My first saltwater aquarium was almost an exact copy of yours equipment wise, except I had a 2 bulb t5 light. I tail spot blenny is an awesome fish. I have one in my nuvo 10 and it behaves almost like a dog. Mine comes up to the glass and begs for food and even eats from my hand. They have a huge personality for such a small fish

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I went by the LFS twice this week in search of a tail spot blenny. Seems like they are having a hard time getting them in. Supposively they have had some on order for a few weeks. Anyways, now I'm on the waiting list for one so hopefully it will show up in the next few weeks.

When I was at the LFS today, I couldn't resist a small yellow clown goby. These guys are neat little fish. I had never planned to have 4 fish in this system, but I'm thinking the clown goby will be a very small addition to the bio load. He seems a little thin. I hope I can get him to start eating and fatten up.

A couple updates on the tank. Everything is doing well. I've since added a tail spot blenny. Waited about 2 months for my LFS to finally get some in. I've also added 3 blue legged hermits. They seem to be doing a good job of cleaning up my sand bed. I was having problems with diatoms building up on the sand bed, but nowhere else. The hermits seem to be helping the problem.

My clowns seem to be doing great. The Darwin is beginning to lose its orange nose and transition to solid black and white. I've seen them attempt to host in my hammer a couple times.

I've also added a few more corals including a torch, rasta zoas, and some more acans. I'm really loving this torch.

My frogspawn and hammer that came from a neglected tank are still bouncing back nicely. The frog spawn hasn't recovered as fast as the hammer, but it looks 100 times better than it did when I put it in the tank a few months ago.

I'm spot feeding 1-2 times per week with reef roids. Zoas are growing very nice (a new polyp every couple weeks). For some reason my GSP, Duncan, and Pipe Organ arent showing any signs of growth.

Here in a couple weeks my plan is to add a shrimp. I will either add a skunk cleaner or fire shrimp.
