Hello everyone, here's a bit of info regarding my current setup.

I'm running a mixed reef 90 gal, that's roughly 11 months old. It's been quite the learning experience, have definitely made my share of mistakes (the evidence will be in some of the attached photos). But it's all needed for my "someday" dream tank, that I hope to happen in the next few years.

I started off with the plan that I would just convert my 60 gal freshwater tank over to a reef tank. I was having some problems planning where to put the sump due to awkward stand size, and was disappointed in how narrow it was. It just happened that this 90 gal showed up on a local classified, and I snatched it up. So I had to return a lot of the equipment that I had already bought and upgrade!

My equipment list is as follows:

* Trigger Systems Crystal Sump - 30 inch
* CPR CS90 Overflow Box (I don't recommend, if you have the option; get a drilled tank...for anyone that this info is relevant)
* Reef Octopus Classic 150 Space Saver Protein Skimmer
* Tom Aquatics Aqua-Lifter Dosing Pump (Overflow Box Pump)
* Danner Supreme Aqua-Mag 7 Water Pump (Return Pump)
* Aqua Medic EcoDrift Controllable Pump/Powerhead - 8.1
* Eheim Jager TruTemp 50 Watt Fully Submersible UL Approved Heater
* Aqua Medic EcoDrift Controllable Pump/Powerhead - 4.1
* Photon 48-V2

* CaribSea Arag-Alive Special Grade Reef Sand
* Pukani Dry Rock

Attached are my timeline photos, the first one is what my tank looked like advertised. I painted it, scraped old paint off back glass, and made some changes to the canopy

Previous owner said it was for dart frogs and was a saltwater tank before that.

First attempt at playing with aquascape. Turned out that this tank wasn't wide enough either, so there were some modifications.

It lives! Was so clean....

Starting to get the uglies.

Jaws and Orca, my two troopers. The first additions after they did time in fish jail (quarantine). They thought they were in the ocean when first added I think, hardly ever left the top of the tank and seemed scared to go down by the rock.

There's a gap here of when the tank got really really bad, prefer not to remember it, I had almost threw in the towel. This photo is the first on the attempt to recovery, with dumb mistakes, mainly my choices in fish selection as a newb; the copperband and the regular sized coral beauty.

Thing's finally turning around!

Almost present day, this is about a month ago!

I do a 15 gal water change weekly, change my filter sock every other day. I currently do have somewhat high nitrates, from being somewhat heavy stocked and feeding heavy I assume. It's something I'm taking steps to improve, such as; adding chaeto to refugium, adding a ceramic biomedia plate.

Thanks for looking!

Welcome.
Nice tank.
One question,
Do you see any issues between the Springeri Dottybackand the Royal Gramma? I read that Dottybacks and BAssels do not like each other.
I have a Springeri and would love to add a Royal Gramma. My tank is almost same size than your's (96GAL) and would like to know your experience.
Thanks
Julio

I'm not sure the poison dart frogs are gonna make it in that reef bro. But nice reef none the less!

Thanks! So far I haven't had any problems with them, but I've only had the Dottyback about a month. I think in your situation I would be more cautious, since you already have the dottyback. When I first got my Gramma, he was very timid but I only had two clowns at the time; so he got more brave. I've noticed with the Dottyback, he's a lot more out going for being the new guy; not sure if that would have made my gramma less bold or not.

Thanks for the answer
