Hey all!
Just about settling into my cycle and I feel like things are juuust about how I want them! Figured now is the time to share and see if I’m missing anything and gather feedback!
60g cube, Eshopps nano sump. Herbie overflow.
3x1050gph eflux powerheads
Aquatop 607gph return pump
2x eheim 150W heaters
BM Curve 5 skimmer
Hydra 26 light
IM Hydrofill Ti ATO w 110gph pump
The tank came with a stand but it was cheapy garbage so I repurposed a cool desk I had. It’s reinforced on the back legs and was really solid and sturdy to begin with. Hope it’s good
I started it up with conditioned tap water but just filled the ATO bin with my first batch of RO. Used dry rock (Marcos I think?), mostly dry sand plus a bag of live sand. Added a bottle of quick start. Also dosed to 1.5ish ppm w ammonium hydroxide. Ammonia is barely coming down but nitrites might be creeping up a little. It’s been a little more than two weeks with water in it, a bit more than a week with ammonia and bacteria added. Started playing around with light settings and it was so pretty I let the lighting schedule run for a couple days and now I’m getting a little algae... hoping it’s all part of the process
Also running a little bag of carbon and a little gfo, currently in the skimmer compartment cause there’s lots of water movement in there.
Anyhow at this point I’m just hoping the skimmer chills out, the tanks gets good and cycled, the algae is nothing to worry about... and yeah! I’m trying to be very patient!
As for livestock dreams I’m hoping to snag some black ice snowflake clowns, and a white tail Bristletooth tang! A cleaner shrimp... maybe a mandarin someday... any recommendations? Oh and plenty of beautiful coral!!
Thanks for being a friendly, active, helpful community!! Happy to be here!
Thank you for coming to my TED talk
