Hello all,
This is my first reef tank. I know a small one and will have to be diligent. It is on week 3 of its cycle.
20 gallon JBJ Cubey tank
20 lbs Bahama Oolite
20 lbs Fuji Liverock
20 gallons of Pacific Ocean water
Distilled water top off
6 hour actinic lighting
SG - 1.026
Ammonia - .25 rpm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 0 ppm
Calcium - 400 ppm
KH - 7 dKH
Phosphate - 0 ppm
pH - 8.0
Ammonia - 0 ppm (was alot higher and dropped to 0 today.
Noticing the start of the diatom bloom now (I hear this is normal for new tanks). See copapods on the live rock when I turn on the lights (the good kind) and a type of snail that lives in tubes that has thin filaments extending out. Cycling with live rock only. Just wanted to make sure I am covering all of my bases. Not wanting to add CUC or fish until the tank has cycled. Thanks and glad to be here.
