So I am setting up my first refugium on my 220 gallon. Its going in my 90 gallon sump. I don't have the funds to get an expensive light for it at this time... So I went to the hardware store and picked up a light and a 90 watts bulb at the recommendation of several people including my LFS. I know doing this wont get the most out of it but it will do a decent job from what I understand.

Will this work to get me started? See the attach pictures... How close to the tank do I want the light?

Also very interested as I'm setting up a sump this week.

interested because i like different ideas! learning, love learning:rolleyes:

Thanks JJ1796 thats not to bad price wise being LED they are probably cheaper to run... How close to the tank do I want the bulb? is the distance I have good or do I need it closer?

You will likely end up getting algae growth in the whole sump including the skimmer with a spread like that. CFLs work just fine though.

Ok I will try and get it closer to the tank to limit the spread...

Lamp is fine. Keep it such that the spread focuses on one chamber. If you've got macro in there, you'll want to be sure to rotate the macro periodically so that only one side receives light.
