First salt water tank!

Eyy, someone who likes Tropheus Ikola! I've got a 75 gallon tank of them with other Tanganyikan fish right next to my computer. (On the other side of my computer, on my desk, is a little tank of Tanganyikan shelldwellers.) So I can enjoy all my freshwater fish while playing video games or hanging out on reef2reef.

Of course, this is a SALTWATER forum, no one wants to hear about freshwater fish! :P

Anyway, your tank looks nice, maybe I'll copy your aquascape when I finally get a saltwater tank set up. :)

It sounds like we had fairly similar set-ups; this tank is off to the side of my computer as well. Ill get a picture of it tonight. :)
I definitely enjoyed my freshwater set-ups when I had them.
I had 7 tanks, one 75g, 2 55g, 2 29g, 2 10g. I was breeding German Reds, Bi-Colors, and Sulfer heads.
The 75g was my main display with a mix of African cichlids and a nice group of breeding synodontis multipunctatus.
Unfortunately, my wife said if I want to do saltwater they had to go, thus I only have saltwater now.

Hello All,

The tank was looking good tonight, so I figured I would take a video of is. (Plus I promised Paola I would)

*Please excuse the background noise, my son was having a good time in his bouncer.*

Thank you for watching!

That's cool! I hope the chair at your desk has wheels so that you can roll it back and see your entire tank without even having to get up! :)

Yep, when the chair is pulled out I get a full view of my tank. :)

Hello All,

Unfortunately my Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse (Lolly) jumped from my tank. :(
Now I only have 1 yellow tang (Ray), 1 wyoming white clownfish (Casper), and 1 golden head sleeper goby (Steve).
Does anyone have recommendations for fish to add to the group?
I was thinking about another wrasse, however it would have to be a larger one that couldn't fit through light diffuser grid.

Any recommendations are welcome! :)

Nice tank, I like my leopard wrasses as they are a nice color and do not seem prone to jumping. I do not even have a lid on my tank and have never seen them toward the top as when startled go into rock work or the sand. If you can find a Potters Wrasse and keep it alive they are awesome.

Thanks for the reply Killer Karma,

I always heard that leopard wrasses are difficult to care for.
Liveaquaria.com says they are for experts only.
What do you feed yours? How hard are they really to keep?

Thank you,

I have not had that experience with them. They do decimate a copepod population so if you ever want mandarines id skip it, but my two eat flake, pellets, pick at algae sheets, mysis, basically everything. Really like the mysis. They are a little skitish at first and enjoy rockwork to hide feed in

Hello everyone,

I just made a video showing results of a refugium I set up two months ago.

Before the fuge was setup my water had 5-10ppm of nitrates and 0.1-0.25ppm phosphates.
Only 2 months in and both nitrates and phosphates are down near 0 ppm.

Any recommendations for a doser, or should i just do Kalkwasser?

Thanks!

Finally got a decent picture of my sleeper head goby! He always hides when he sees the camera.

Nice shot of the tank from the side.
