First Saltwater Tank. Could use some advice.

I got a 29 gallon tank for Christmas. I'm going to use live sand and have a friend who is going to give me some live rock from his tank. I am not sure what else I need for filtration or water flow. I'm planning on live rock and fish only. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was told I would be ok with about half a dozen smaller fish and they guy at my local fish store suggested starting with fish in the damsel family.

Is this a standard 29 or a all in one 29 biocube type? I would consider a hob skimmer for nutrient control. If you aren't planning much else, damsels are fine. But know they can be mean little buggers. Clownfish are included in the damsel family as well.

Maybe a firefish, small goby, or something along that nature would be a cool addition too.

Its a standard tank not a bio cube. I was hoping for more docile fish. I have some aggressive ones in my freshwater set up that give me a problem.

Firefish are jumpers fyi. Springeri or alleni are docile damsels and bright blues. Plus 1 on the skimmer or plan frequent big water changes.

Just got my 60 set up. Have rocks, and sand both live. How long should I wait before getting my starter fish?
